Bee the Source of Someone’s Joy
I have been stuck in a mental pattern of worry for the world lately. Wishing the world was safer and happier, or at least less contentious than it seems to be. Feelings of disempowerment suck up my energy, and I have not felt “on my game”. Maybe it was the warm weather of a bright spring, listening to Wu-Tang Clan radio, being up on a scissor lift (my favorite office space), painting this quote, or being on a school campus that expressed so much appreciation for my creative efforts, but my mood at the end of the week was effusive. I got my ship righted by remembering that orienting myself around “how can I be of service?” makes life so much better. I love Einstein’s quote: We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. The world is not apart from me, it needs my best efforts at patience, understanding, good humor, and engagement. I was reminded that if I want the world to be kinder, I can be that. If I want abundance, I can notice all that I am blessed by daily. If I want more joy- then read the directions on the wall!
It was wonderful to be back on the Blossom Hill Campus. They have worked hard to create a loving and supportive school environment. This is my fourth mural collaboration with Blossom Hill, and they are appreciative of how the murals carry the message better than just “checking the box” with a sign. One of the parents used a drone to get an aerial image of the playground mural I shared in my last newsletter. I heard feedback from so many appreciative teachers and parents that the kindergarten area feels transformed by the artwork. Yay for art!
I hope that you are also finding your groove this spring, and finding ways to be part of the changes you want to see in the world. Nourish yourself with good sleep, food, music, and friends to get your ship seaworthy. Then let’s turn these headwinds into crosswinds! Or even at-our-backs-wind! (Maybe too far, but I am an optimistic windbag.)
